Question:
My mother is 93 and in poor health. I have been helping her bathe and
dress daily. I have to have major surgery and won't be able to assist
her for at least 6 weeks. Is there a way Home Care could help?
Answer:
Home Health Plus Services, Inc., our private duty agency, has a CNA bath
visit in which the CNA comes daily or 3-5 times per week, whatever
your mother desires. The aide would assist with bathing and dressing.
Prior to the start of this service, an RN would make a no-charge assessment
to set up the CNA care plan. This would provide the CNA with detailed
instructions on the care required, such as bathing, transfers, assistance
with dressing, etc.
Question:
My father is staying in a nursing home recuperating from a fractured
hip. He has advanced dementia and frequently tries to climb out of bed
at night. Is it possible to have someone stay overnight who could make
sure he stays safely in bed?
Answer:
We have a special program providing caregivers who are specially trained in the care of patients with Alzheimer's and other
dementias. We can stay with residents in nursing homes or hospitals,
from 4-24 hours. Nighttime is frequently requested because roommates
are usually sleeping and fewer staff are in and out during the night
to check on residents. Having a companion keep a watchful eye on a loved
one overnight is not only comforting to family but also assures safety.
